How to use government's official coronavirus tracking app Aarogya Setu

To combat the coronavirus epidemic, the government of India has launched a new app. Called Aarogya Setu, the all-new corona tracking app warns users if they have crossed paths with any coronavirus infected people recently. The app has been developed by the central government and NIC eGov Mobile Apps, the developer responsible for most government apps in India. The app is available on both Android and iOS can be downloaded via respective app stores.

As already mentioned, Aarogya Setu app is a coronavirus tracking app that uses data provided by users, Bluetooth and location generated social graph to track if one has come close to anyone who could have tested Covid-19 positive.

Another essential thing to note here is that as the app is based on location and users data, to make it work properly, the app requires more data from different locations. This is pretty similar to how Google Maps detects whether there’s a traffic jam in some area based on location data.

In addition to this, the app also offers features like Self Assessment Test and a complete list of helpline numbers across the country. There’s also a Twitter feed that keeps showing all the latest tweets Ministry of Health.

Aarogya Setu app is available on both Android and iOS and can be downloaded via respective app stores. Ensure that there’s no space between Aarogya and Setu or simply type ‘AarogyaSetu’ in the search bar to find the app. We have also listed the links below:

Aarogya Setu app: How to set up the app

Open Aarogya Setu app on your smartphone

Now, choose the desired language and tab Next

The app supports 11 languages– English, Hindi, Gujrati, Marathi, Punjabi, etc.

Now, tap on the Register Now button at the last slide of the information page

Allow all the necessary permissions <br>

As already mentioned, the app uses Bluetooth and location data to work, need to provide access to these services.

At the next screen, enter your phone number, tap Submit.

Enter OTP manually or wait for the app to detect to automatically

Now, the app will ask for some necessary details such as name, age, sex, profession and your travel history in the last 30 days. Tap Submit

Users can also volunteer in the time of need by checking the box at the Personal details page.

After this, the app will redirect to the homepage of the app, where it will show the level of risk you have, So, if it is marked in Green with a text saying ‘You are Safe’ then there’s nothing to worry about.

To use this feature, tap on the option and then the app will open a chat window where it asks some questionnaire related to the user’s current health and symptoms such as Gender, Age, Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms, etc.

Tap on the Covid-19 Helpcenters button and scroll down to location once in your city.

Aarogya Setu app: How to share the app so that others can install the app
Tap on the Share & Protect Others button from the bottom of the app, choose the medium such as SMS, WhatsApp, then choose the contact you want to share the app with and then send the message.
